The once undisputed King of pop Michael Jackson's bizarre appearance at a book shop in Las Vegas recently has sparked new fears about his health. The singer, who turns 50 on August 29, appears fragile and gaunt, as he was photographed earlier this week, wearing pyjamas, a wig and his trademark surgeon's mask while being carted around in a wheelchair. Jackson, who has battled with a series of health problems over the years, is rumoured to be suffering from debilitating back problems.Mike Lopez, the photographer who captured the beleaguered King of Pop, told the New York Daily News that Michael looks really frail and that his skin was peeling and he looks so thin and gaunt. While on the one hand, his followers fear for Jackson's health, some say this could well be one of his legendary props. Jacko on wheels Jackson, who has battled with a series of health problems over the years, is rumoured to be suffering from debilitating back problems - hence the new set of wheels. While a fellow-shopper at the Vegas bookshop tells British tabloid 'The Sun', "There are constant rumours of a Michael Jackson comeback, but it was shocking to see that in reality he is a shadow of his former self." He further said,"He seemed too weak even to get out of the chair to cross the road himself. He stayed in the store for two hours and wheeled himself around in the chair the whole time. The skin on his hands was peeling, almost like a snake's. He kept his mask on all the time. His security man was at his side and nobody approached him. It is really sad." Another source says Jacko often hops in a wheelchair when he feels he's too weak to walk. "He has days when he is fine but others when he feels listless and too weak to walk. Then he calls for the wheelchair. The source further added, "Usually on those days he also refuses to get dressed, spending all day in his pyjamas."
