Warrant against Aamir Khan
Actor Aamir Khan faces legal trouble after the Gujarat Forest Department handed over an arrest warrant against the actor to the Mumbai police. Aamir is accused of violating the wildlife Protection Act during the filming of his film Lagaan, in which he allegedly used two Chinkaras illegally for the shoot. Both the animals died later.
A Forest Department team handed over the warrant to an IG in Mumbai. The warrant issued by a Bhuj fast track court is bailable and has been issued after the actor or his company failed to respond to the forest department's notices in the last two years asking them to appear before it. The forest department had served a notice to Aamir on August 7 2006 for the first time.
The possibility of their arrest or surrender rises anytime after April 15. The case was lodged by assistant conservator of forests JV Vyas, after Aamir and others failed to respond to the forest department's notices in the last two years asking them to appear before it. On a complaint by Gir Nature Youth Club, Aamir Khan Production Pvt Ltd was served a notice on August 7, 2006 for the alleged illegal use of Chinkaras in violation of the wildlife protection Act. ...
