After all the hype created by its promos, Subhash Ghai’s latest offering – Black and White released recently to mixed reviews. The movie is a far cry from Ghai’s earlier productions which did not do too well at the box office. While his last two films - Yaadein and Kisna - bombed at the box office, Black and White seems to be getting a somber response from the audience.
Talking about the movie, Director Subhash Ghai said: "Two different people meet with different thoughts and they're strong thoughts. They have been groomed with that thought in their mind. When the two characters meet, they educate each other and come to know that life is beyond Black & White too."
The plot of the movie revolves around a suicide bomber, Numair Qazi (Anurag Sinha) who has come from Afghanistan to Delhi with the aim of detonating a bomb at the red fort on Independence Day, where he meets Rajan Mathur (Anil Kapoor) who takes him under his wing and introduces him to the way life is led in Chandni Chowk. As the film rolls on, Numair has a change of heart, thanks to being exposed to the life in Chandni Chowk and the people he meets.
When quizzed about the film, actress Shefali Shah -- who plays Rajan Mathur's wife -- said, “It is an honest film. It is a very relevant film in terms of today’s socio-political context and is a very different film coming from Subhashji. Actor Anil Kapoor added that the movie tells a very strong story, which people will identify with and will entertain as well as get the audience thinking.
Black and White launches two newcomers -- Anurag Sinha as the suicide bomber, Numair Qazi and Aditi Sharma, the lady love of Numair. The film casts a veteran theater artist, Habib Tanveer as an Urdu poet. The music of Black and White has been written by Sukhwinder Singh.
So with an interesting star cast and with its realistic story line, Black and White is set to woo movie audiences including those that have lost hope in Subhash Ghai’s movie making abilities. ... read more »
