He prefers streets to theatres to perform live magic tricks and says as a profession magic has become lucrative. Bangalore-based street magician Ugesh Sarcar says he is India's first street magician. He plans to set up a school of magic. "We want to start a school of magic," says Ugesh Sarcar, known for his daredevil, "Buried Alive" act on a television channel. "Indian audience can never be taken for granted as they very well understand the tricks behind magic," says Sarcar.
Magicians are known for their oft-quoted phrase "magicians never tell" but Ugesh Sarcar does not hesitate in revealing that the secret behind his magic tricks is nothing but science.
"I never claim I am able to do supernatural things. I also never support the claim of people who say they can do supernatural things," he says.
"Science is the only answer behind all of my tricks. No magician can claim to do things without the help of science."
