We've been telling you about the Big B's blog questioning SRK's stardom in the light of the performance of his latest TV show, 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain'. King Khan has hit back saying he is too busy to read or write blogs.Amitabh Bachchan in his blog recently questioned SRK's popularity citing the performance of his reality show Paanchvi Pass which has got relatively much poorer ratings than 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' which Bachchan had hosted. But this is not the first war of words started between the Big B and the Badshah of Bollywood, all over the show KBC - ever after SRK took over Big B's position as its anchor which seems to have been a sore point between the two.Big B has got back at his old rival in his blog, comparing not just the TRPs of KBC-I and II with KBC III which featured the King Khan, but also questioned the poor TRPs of 'Paanchvi Pass' taking on SRK by questioning his star power in a characteristically polite and subtle way. However, when TIMES NOW spoke to the officials of Star India, they backed the King Khan asserting that 'Paanchvi Pass' is indeed the No 1 show and that is all that matters."'Paanchvi Pass' (PP) since it premiered with a rating of 4.7, has been the number one show on television - these numbers are not absolute numbers, these are relative numbers and represent a relative performance of the show vis a vis other shows on TV at that point in time. So I think PP has opened extremely well," says Star senior vice president for distribution and sales, Prem Kamath.Synergy Communications director Anita Kaul Basu who was also executive producer for the award-winning 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', said the actor was entitled to his personal opinion but that did not mean Paanchvi Pass, whcih is also being produced by Synergy, is a failure."I'd grant him whatever his opinions are about various things - from our point of view, from the market point of view, from Star TV's point of view I don't think it's (Paanchvi Pass) a failure at all. If you look at what is happening all across - the IPL effect in terms of TV programming, that has hit every programme across the bandwith of channels," she said.Lending some more perspective, on the changing trend of TRPs, Kamath explained that the viewership is different now. "Yes if you look at the absolute figure that the TRP represents, KBC opened at 12. The macro environment was such that the highest rating shows on Indian TV were doing a 10-12 rating -today the highest rating shows on TV are doing a 4-5 rating. And that is really the macro environment we are operating in at the moment," he explained. But with Big B bringing up the war of TRPs the episode has turned rather bitter. The question is will that in any way change his relationship with the production house concerned? basu wouldn't like to think so."We are in discussions on certain programmes with him (Bachchan) and it is not going to stop here - we are professional, we are a production house, we will be working with talent and as far as I know he is very keen to work with us too, whenever he chooses to come back to television," she said. But while Star officials may be ready to let bygones be bygones, Shahrukh Khan's reply to Big B's several pointed questions came as a subtle counter attack. SRK has said:"I don't know why comparisons should be drawn between my shows and shows done by other stars. I am a very busy man, I don't have time to write long blogs. It's nice that Mr Bachchan is blogging now and one gets to know his thoughts and his views on one's work."We definitely will be keeping our eyes glued to Bachchan's blog for the salvo from the Big B!(By Meetali Kutty) ... read more »
