Known for their contemporary music and having back to back superhits in their kitty, music directors duo -- Vishal-Shekhar, are back in action with their upcoming movie - Tashan. Speaking exclusively to TIMES NOW's Amruta Pranja, the duo spoke about the movie's music and more.
Amruta: Tell us something about the music of Tashan?Shekhar: It is very rustic, it is fun, its very edgy and rocky. It has got the madness which Vishal and I have in all our sound tracks. We got a chance and we grabbed it instantly.
Amruta: As a musical duo do you like it when you are given a clear brief or when you are just left to yourself so that you can create your own stuff?Vishal: The best thing is how Tashan worked out. They gave us the script, they gave us the requirement of the script and then they told us that you are absolutely free to do whatever you want to do. This surprised us which is a best brief you can ask for as a musician.
Amruta: I am really curious to know that as music directors, considering that there are so many films coming up, how difficult is it to keep yourself motivated and inspire?Shekhar: You got to be true to what your doing. We do very little work, we sign very few films. Whenever we do a film we do it honestly.
Amruta: At one point in the industry there were lot of musical duos and right now we see a trend of mainly individual composers. So, as a musical duo how does you keeps the chemistry going?Vishal: No, No we broke up yesterday. (with smiles)Shekhar: That is headlines now. (with smiles). No, the thing is very importantly Vishal and I were friends before we actually started working together. So, we just have a good time basically. It is just not about any ego issues or anything. We both are musicians; we make music from our heart and have a blast.
Amruta: Considering rip-offs are so rampant in the industry, how does one safeguard his individuality in such a situation?Vishal: It is really simple. Just don't do it.Shekhar: Stick to original music. Make original music as a composer and go and buy music. Don't download music.
