Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma is back on track after the success of 'Sarkar Raj'. 'Contract' is ready to exlode from the Ramu stable. Ramu is back to doing what he does best, with his latest offering 'Contract', a film on the Underworld. Ram Gopal Verma speaking on the up coming film said, "The film is the story of one man who suffers. This masala story is packaged in a rustic way. The stroy shows a link between underworld and terrorism." And no surprises in this film too. Both the lead actors in this are newcomers. Advik Mahajan who plays the lead role is hopeful that the movie will click with the audience. Advik reacting to the story of the film said, "We have performed very well. All the actors have put in their sincere work. Script is the selling point of this movie." And the leading lady Sakshi Gulati is an ex-miss India who is eager to prove herself on the silver screen. Sakshi speaking on her role said, "Tt's an amazing script, and I have a very strong role." After the success of 'Sarkar Raj', Ramu certainly has great expectations to live up to. We only hope that Ramu's contract churns him equally big profits. (Shreyoshi Dutta for TIMES NOW)Talent with self-belief counts in Bollywood: Sakshi Debutant actress Sakshi Gulati agrees that newcomers from non-filmy families may take time to carve a niche for themselves, but it is talent coupled with self belief and conviction, which counts in the end. "Debutants from filmy families do have an easy journey in the initial stages. But, if you are a gem, nobody can stop you from shining," Sakshi, whose debut film 'Contract' directed by Ram Gopal Varma, releases on July 18 said. Speaking about her role, Sakshi said her role of "Iya" is an emotionally dry person and not a showpiece in the story. "She is not a submissive character. It is an action-based role," she added. According to Sakshi, women in earlier underworld films have always been in the background. "I could not have asked for more when Ramuji cast me in a strong, action-based role in a underworld film genre which he handles the best." Sakshi was full praise for Varma for his handling of newcomers. "He is always open to discussing the film with the debutants. We shot in Mumbai and Bangkok. The schedule began in mid-December 2007 and ended in March this year." Working with Varma was a enjoyable experience, she said and added that the filmmaker's clear vision about what he wants from the actors and sense of humour put all the newcomers at east resulting in a balanced atmosphere on the sets. Sakshi, an Economics graduate from Delhi University, hails from an army background. Her father, she said was a brigadier in the Army. She shares screen space with Adhvik Mahajan. Marathi television and film actress Amrita Khanvilkar is the third lead. (PTI) ... read more »
