Even as the much awaited epic romance 'Jodhaa Akbar' opens at the weekend box office in 26 countries, moviegoers in Rajasthan won't be able to watch the film.
A blanket ban has been announced by the Rajputs on the release of 'Jodhaa Akbar' in Rajasthan, alleging that the film potraying the 16th century romance of Mughal Emperor Akbar and a Rajput Princess Jodhaa has its facts distorted.
'The Cine Association' of Rajasthan not wanting to take any chances fearing a backlash, have banned the screening of the movie across the state. Sri Rajput Karni Sena had called for a boycott of the film despite a disclaimer by the producer of the film, and even after director Ashustosh Gowarikar got the nod of approval from the Jaipur Royal family. ... read more »
