So many beautiful women, so many picture perfect moments - when it comes to choosing the most fabulous Oscar 'fashion moments' we certainly are spoilt for choice. But we managed to choose our five favorite fashion moments from the Oscar Red carpet over the past decade, and here they are:
Nicole Kidman is the reigning queen of the red carpet, wearing everything from Chanel Couture to John Galliano for Dior as shown here in 1997. This green dress was depicted as almost a mustard color in many publications, but it had a beautiful hue that event curator Andre Leon Talley called "absinthe" that set off Nicole's coloring. Nicole, who was still Mrs Cruise then, stood out from the others in the crowd with this moment that certified Nicole was a style icon to reckon with.
Catherine Zeta Jones, 1999: After her stunning performance in 'The Mask of Zorro', her Versace dress only brightened the limelight for the Welsh beauty. We've never seen anyone wear red better!
Cate Blanchett, 1999: Many women loved this dress because they could see themselves in it. This knitted Galliano number, which featured gorgeous embroidery of flowers and a hummingbird on the back, was stunning, but not intimidating, and Blanchett, a nominee that evening for Elizabeth, easily pulled it off. Knockoffs went on the market the very next day. Cate for once played up her looks in an embroidered, showing that she has the style instincts of a queen!
Charlize Theron in 2000 in a Vera Wang: Theron was still relatively a newcomer in Hollywood but stood out because she was without a doubt the best dressed at the Oscars that year.
Rene Zellweger in 2001, with a vintage haute couture by Lily Et Cie. Rene knocked everybody's socks off being the only one on the Red Carpet to wear yellow. The hair, the dress, the lips, it was all perfect! So there you have it - five beautiful women. If any of you Marilyn Monroe fans are wondering why there's been no mention of the screen goddess, it's because Monroe shockingly was never nominated for an Oscar! ... read more »
