Even as southern superstar Rajnikant gets ready for the release of him film 'Kuselan', he may face problems releasing his film in Karnataka, following his statements on the Hognekkal issue. Despite the actor's written apology, the pro-Kannada groups are not ready to relent.South India's biggest superstar is ready to hit the screens with his latest release 'Kuselan' but once again, politics could play spoilsport. Rajnikant's fiery speech favouring the sensitive Hognekkal issue has hurt many Kannada activists, who have decided not to let any Rajnikant film release in Bangalore until the actor apologised. However to ensure the smooth screening of his forthcoming film 'Kuselan', Rajnikant has now sought the help of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. In a letter to the Chamber, the actor has aplogised as he writes, "I am hurt after realising that some people in Karnataka are still hurt by my statements over the Hognekkal issue. It is against my behaviour to hurt anyone. It is my aim, desire and hope that the common people are not put through any trouble because of me. My films are watched not only by Tamilians in Karnataka but also by Kannadigas and people of other languages. I request you to ensure that my fans do not have to undergo any problems during the release of my film 'Kuselan'."Following which the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has given a go-ahead for the release of 'Kuselan' this Friday (August 1, 2008).As Rockline Venkatesh (Vice President, KFCC) says, "Rajnikant has already made an appeal earlier through TV channels. The Film Chamber considers this letter as an apology proffered by the actor. So now we've sent a letter saying that - All over Karnataka, I want people speaking all languages to see my movie. So I don't want any fan to be troubled, and I want the movie to be released without any problem." However Kannada organisations are unwilling to budge questioning the authenticity of the letter, and want the actor to come to Karnataka and personally apologise to them. Until then, they will not let any theatres screen 'Kuselan' in Bangalore."As Narayan Gowda (KRV President) stated, "I have my doubts about who wrote the letter, Rajnikant has to come here to Karnataka and personally apologise to 5 crore Kannadigas. Till then, we won't allow the release of this film."With the matter far from over, it looks like Rajni fans in Bangalore will have to wait for some more time, till they finally get to see the superstar in his new film. ... read more »
