Canadian singer Celine Dion is honoured by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and is made a knight in the Legion of Honour. As SWarkozy quoted, "France thanks you because your talent and your success have contributed to the influence of the French language outside our borders. In the name of the French Republic, you are made a knight of the Legion of Honour."In turn singer Celine Dion stated, "I share this medal with my relatives, who are here present tonight and I accept it in the name of our father, who died five years ago and was a guide for my thirteen brothers and sisters and myself. My father would have been very proud to be here Mr President and shake your hand, and see his youngest daughter honoured by France. I want to share this honour with my mother and we have the privilege of having her with us still, and who is our strength, our model. Mummy, I owe you this medal."The prestigious decoration was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, and is the highest decoration in France awarded for outstanding services to France regardless the nationality of the recipient. This is the second award she receives, in 1990 she was made a knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.Nine years after her triumph at the Stade de France, Celine Dion comes back to Paris in the frame of her world tour.
