Tamil superstar Rajnikant last night (October 13) said nobody could pressurise or compel him to plunge into politics in the wake of some of his fans in Coimbatore floating a political party. Warning action against the fans at Coimbatore who floated Desiya Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam recently, Rajnikant, in a statement said "nobody can pressurise or compel me to enter politics. But if I take a decision to enter politics, nobody can prevent it". He said his fans were free to join any party of their choice and if he decided to enter politics, they were free to join him. His fans, enthused by the entry of film stars into politics in Tamil Nadu and in a neighbouring state, wanted him to enter politics, he said apparently referring to Vijaykant and Saratkumar in Tamil Nadu and Chiranjeevi in Andhra Pradesh. "I am totally involved in the production of ''Endiran'' (his latest movie under production directed by Shankar). My fans are free to join any party of their choice, but I will not allow them to float a party in a name, a flag or use my photograph", he said. He instructed his fans associations to expel those, who announced the formation of a political party. A Coimbatore report said groupism among Rajnikanth fans association had resulted in one section, claiming to be the official one, removing those who recently floated the political party. Singai K Ulaganathan, district secretary of the Rajnikanth Fans Welfare Association, told reporters that the Association did not approve of a person named Abu floating a party as he had been removed from the Association two years back. In a resolution adopted at a meeting last night, the Association decided to remove some of Abu's accomplices from the primary membership and the office they were holding. He also warned of stringent action against those indulging in anti-Association activities, like pasting posters and distributing handbills in the name of Rajnikanth, without prior permission of Rajni Manram (Fans club). Ulaganathan produced a copy of a letter from Satyanarayanan of All India Rajnikanth Fans Welfare Association, removing Abu, Soundirapandyan and P H Mubarak from the membership.
