Actor Aamir Khan, who more often than not is conspicuous by his absence at award ceremonies, has finally agreed to accept an award. Aamir Khan has not been present at some of the most prestigious awards in the industry. He has been absent in award ceremonies where he won the accolades of Best Director - Taare Zameen Par, Best Actor - Lagaan and Best Actor - Raja Hindustani. Aamir Khan's roll call at awards ceremonies have been notorioulsy low with Aamir's disdain for award functions. So, it comes as a surprise that Aamir has decided to personally receive the prestigious Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation Award, which has veteran actor Kamal Hassan as a jury member. Hassan who was impressed by Aamir's Directorial debut -- Taare Zameen Par said, "I absolutely loved the film. So I recommended his name. The awards are genuine and are revered" This statement quite clearly posed a question on the authenticity of other awards, however  Aamir seems to be convinced. and claimed that, "This is a special award. It's for the first time in 11 years that a Bollywood film has been chosen. That's why I am going."
